Congratulations Tigers for a first place finish at the Cuyahoga Heights Dual Meet Tournament.

Former wrestler Tim Nosco received a nomination to the Military Academy at West Point.  Tim's nomination from Sherrod Brown comes on the heels of a similar letter of approval from Steve LaTourette.  Best Wishes Tim!!!


Sgt. Ed Piner was been seen lurking about Twinsburg, Ohio this break.  On leave from the Marines, Piner visited both the middle school and high school wrestling rooms. We look forward to seeing more of Coach Piner when he is honorably discharged this spring1

The Twinsburg High School wrestlers finished a strong fourth at a loaded Solon Tournament.  Placing for the Tigers were:  Willie Williams, Myles Campbell, Alex Keller, Mitch Mickovic, and Grant Blumenthal.  Congratulations to the three champions Del Vinas, Mike Labry, and Mike Baker!!!

The middle school wrestlers competed in a five team round robin hosted at RBC.  The results are as follows:

Twinsburg Wrestling Club Registration

Registration for Twinsburg Wrestling Club (TWC) begins Oct. 1 and continues through the first practice, Monday, Nov. 1, in the THS wrestling room. Our k-3rd graders will practice every Monday & Thursday, 6 - 7:30, in the THS wrestling room. Practice for 4-6th graders will be every Tuesday & Thursday, 2:30-4:30, at Dodge, starting Tuesday, Oct 19.

The Club will be promoting a Fitness Decathlon at Dodge for all interested participants, 4-6th grade, the first week, Oct. 19 & 21.

News for March 6...

COMAR WINS STATE in DRAMATIC FASHION!!!

Waquiem Comar won the 152 pound state championship in dramatic fashion with an 8-6 victory over defending state champion David Habat from St. Ignatius. This crowned a stellar career which started with Jack Turle and Jamie Hogue at the Twinsburg Rec. Wrestling Club, and ended with Dave Mariola at Twinsburg High School. Waquiem becomes Twinsburg's fifth state champ, and the first since 1998.

Also placing for the Tigers were Brandon Bucknell who made school history by being the first Twinsburg High Heavyweight to place. Brandon's name will go the the hallowed wall of Twinsburg State Placers in Twinsburg High School's Wrestling Room.

Chet Bissell made a repeat performance with a seventh place finish at states. This is Chet's second time placing. This year Chet battled a variety of injuries to place.

Falling just short of placing were sophomore Mike Labry who will be back two more years to make it on the podium. Sophomore Mike Baker who also has two more yearsw to make it to the podium. And lest we forget senior Matt Fechko whose athletic abilities and work wthic allowed him to qualify for the state tournament although he only wrestled three years!!!

First and foremost a special congratulations to the Twinsburg High School wrestlers, six of whom qualified for states. The Tigers finished second at the Mentor District, 119 Mike Labry, 152 Waquiem Comar, 160 Chet Bissell, 171 Mike Baker, 215 Matt Fechko, and Heavyweight Brandon Bucknell all qualified for states. Last week there were five Twinsburg Wrestlers who participated in the Junior High Wrestling District at Brecksville. Martel Anthony and Alex Netzband qualified for the State Tournament with George Anderson finishing just out of qualification with a seventh place. Good job for all participants.

Directions:

The Orange Schools campus is located on 176 wooded acres off Chagrin Blvd., between Lander Circle and SOM Center Road (Rt. 91). From Interstate 271, exit at Chagrin Blvd. and proceed east to the Lander traffic circle. Cross the circle and continue east on Chagrin Blvd. to the campus.

Alternatively, from Interstate 271, exit at Harvard Rd. Proceed east to Lander Rd. Go north on Lander to the traffic circle and then proceed east on Chagrin Blvd.

From the eastern suburbs, you can take SOM Center Rd. (Rt. 91) to Chagrin Blvd, and then head west to the campus. You may also take Lander Rd. to the traffic circle and then take Chagrin Blvd. east to the campus.

We will discuss details in practice. Junior High States Link While Brecksville is the most competitive district, I believe Twinsburg should wrestle there due to convenience and competition.
